Teacher Appreciation Gift Ideas: Creative & Budget Friendly

How To Guide

April 16, 2025

Teachers work hard all year, and out of all the different gifts given to teachers throughout the years, I’ve learned that a thoughtful gift card is one of the most practical and appreciated gifts they can receive. But why just hand over a plain envelope when you can make it extra special with a cute DIY presentation? Here are 4 teacher appreciation gift ideas that pair gift cards with creative, simple, and affordable packaging—because every teacher deserves a little extra love!

1. Apple-Themed Wrap

Supplies Needed:

How To Assemble:

Feel free to purchase any filler gift of your choosing, but I chose to keep it simple with a twist – I love these little, on-the-go chocolates that have a little bit of caffeine for a little sweet treat to help get through the day! I use a bit of Kraft paper to fill the base of the apple container, then add in the gift card along with a couple pieces of chocolate (individually wrapped) and then use the ribbon to tie around the stem.

2. Flowers in a Reusable Jar

Supplies Needed:

How To Assemble:

I like to go to Trader Joes first thing in the morning when they have the freshest selection of florals! Tip: If you ever need flowers in bulk for an event, you can call ahead to Trader Joes customer service and they will order any flower available in their assortment and reserve it in the back so it’s ready for you to pick up. When gifting florals, I like to add the arrangements in reusable jars so that teachers can either use it as a small vase on their desk or take it home with them to reuse. Once your flowers are arranged, take the metal holder to include a gift card or thank you card and tie a little ribbon to put it all together.

3. Coffee Holder & Flower Gift Card Combo

Supplies:

How to Assemble:

Once you have your florals, assemble a small bouquet (not too heavy so it doesn’t weigh down one side) and fill a little plastic cup with a bit of water so they stay fresh. For the opposite side, take the Starbucks empty cup and fill with a little bit of Kraft paper and add in your gift card! I like to tie a little ribbon bow on the top and add in a custom label to glue to the front of the to-go holder. Feel free to use my Canva template to personalize your own label or make your own!

4. Under $10 Teacher Appreciation Gift Ideas

Supplies:

How to Assemble:

For another budget-friendly option without a gift card, I like to buy affordable and practical classroom-friendly items. To make it a little more personal, I like to add a thank you tag.

Gift cards are always a win for teachers, but these creative presentations make them even more special. Happy crafting!
